Kaffegillet Restaurang & Café

Ohh this is one long overdue post! I was in Stockholm last winter... So do the maths. But anyway every experience is stuck in my head.

We were at the huge Stockholm Palace all afternoon with no food... So we've decided to just pop into any cafe we see. So long as it has Swedish meatballs!! I noticed that in some places they use minced meat to form the meatballs and some use processed nicely formed meatballs. I personally prefer the nicely formed ones, smooth and tender. Good thing they serve it! Of course minced one is good too - but it splits off too easily that's why I don't really like minced ones. Anyway, the meatballs that they serve were fantastic - I blame myself for being cold and hungry that partially convinced myself that it's good. But then again, I had bread so I think my judgement was right :P The thick meatball sauce made it even better - along with lingonberry. It's a musttttt eat if you're in Sweden.

Some pretty looking dessert called... Semla. It looks good but... tastes horrible!!! That's my fault - because I dislike almond. It has this really strong almond taste and if you can't take strong almond flavours (like me...) you wouldn't even want another bite. Warning to all you almond haters - don't ever get a Semla!!! Technically it isn't the bun's fault hahaha. Almond lovers, grab one right nowww!! :)

Shake Shack

Shake Shack is now in London! They officially opened a new store in London sometime in early July. Apparently it's a New York thing, so I should at least try it out once! The price for a burger is between £4 - £9 depending oh what you're after (vegan? meat? double? cheese? etc...)

I had the single ShackBurger, the basics. Obviously it is way better than Maccas burgers!!!
Very tender burger, soft white bread, lettuce, tomatoes and some sauce in it. Great combination. Samantha had the SmokeShack which looks great for Bacon lovers - those bacon strips are so crispy! That fries we had was nothing special actually, it was the cheese that made it good... Get the one with cheese! Unfortunately, their cheese topping is not quite generous. The milkshake is to die for.. They have a couple of choices to pick from and I picked the oddest one - peanut butter milkshake. I've never heard/seen of peanut butter milkshake... The shake turned out to be very smooth and light.. Shakes are usually thick isn't it?!?!?! No... they redefined the whole meaning of milkshake! I normally can't finish a whole shake by myself because it's too thick, but in this case I managed to down it all... Love it :D

It's not difficult to find the place as it's located in Covent Garden Market itself. Don't bother having Maccas, get your Shake Shack now :O Check out their menu over here ..

Pizzeria Da Baffetto

A friend insisted that Baffetto serves superb pizzas. Let's start off with the atmosphere first - the shop is very small and looks like a typical rundown cafe. It has all the basics, and that's it. I do not feel comfortable sitting here at all... Also, house wine comes in jugs and cups. There's no such thing as drinking wine from wine glass.

Pizza Baffetto - tomato, mozarella, mushroom, egg, sausage, green pepper, artichoke, onion. Apparently the specialty of the place so I should try? I don't know what to say about the horrible combination... It certainly looks like some remains left in the fridge and they are all thrown on top of the dough. It has really mixed flavours - like a typical Chinese stew where you throw everything in it. Verdict? No I don't like it, it's not flavourful - it's way too mixed up? Apart from the impressive looking egg, I didn't like the rest of the ingredients all mixed together.

Parma ham pizza was OK. Fact that these usually comes as starters, maybe it's a thing in Italy that you can eat pizza that way? I probably enjoyed the crust and cheese more, just don't really see the need of the ham actually.

Panna cotta was great, hardly ever had something with lots of berries in it. Then again I didn't come here for desserts.

Service was horrible, it took us ages to get hold of someone. We could not choose which table to sit, they will fill us in seats that are just nice for two. I can understand that but I saw a number of people choosing their seats too (and it was OK for them to pick?)... So, what do you mean by I can't choose??? Food came really slow too. Besides, I don't find their pizzas that great anyway. Using charcoal to grill the pizza doesn't mean its good. Let's just say, I have had better pizzas in Rome.

Ristorante Il Vineto

Decided to pay this place a visit when I went to Rome again last month - Verdict? In the previous post I've tried various dishes and found that it was worthwhile. This time around...? We shall see. :)

Seafood risotto as starters - every bite is so flavourful! Mild cheese and strong seafood flavours - great dish to start off! Unfortunately, I couldn't even finish one tiny portion, bit too filling.

We got the seafood platter to share - it is crazy humongous definitely more than enough for two!!! Lobster, seabass, prawns, squid, all perfectly grilled!

Definitely one hell of a meal for dinner! I couldn't finish my food - felt really bad :( Not because it's not good, it's the huge ass portion!!

You'd definitely love it if you're a seafood lover. It's super fresh... Everyone couldn't get their eyes off when our dish arrived :P

On a serious note - DO DROP BY IF YOU'RE IN ROME!!!! I have to warn you that dining here isn't right if you have a budget to stick to. If you see post number 1, prices are much more reasonable than have food in this post. Nevertheless - it's only a minute walk from Barberini Metro if you're interested! :) x
