The Crab Factory

Amaebi, yabbies, crab, chicken and waffle. Though I'm not too sure about having hot food placed in plastic.

Sides are all served with the seafood (corn is a must!!), all in a bag. We asked for medium spicy... To those of you who can't take spicy food, this is actually too spicy for you!

Jamba Crab - not too sure about this. Medium spicy can be really spicy while the non-spicy one isn't my kind of thing.

I'm rubbish at differentiating prawns / shrimps / amaebi. Whatever, it's from the same family hahahahhahaha. I know the amaebi I normally get from Jap restaurants aren't this huge. These ones are humongous!!

Chicken and Waffle. Well I''ve tried Duck & Waffle (Psh It's a London thing). It's very different. I mean who the hell would have thought that a fried chicken goes well with waffle and syrup?!?!!

I don't recall having any of our pictures posted - so here we are! @hungrybabes xxx

You'll be given a huge bib to cover and feast like a king. Don't worry about using your hands - everyone does it. Oh, and pouring your seafood on the table, not a problem. Don't bother about table manners, just go for it!

I'm not sure if that's cheap to you, but it's fairly expensive to me... Though to be fair, the seafood is really fresh! Plus it's way cheaper than flying to the States for it! It's one of those places to have Southern food in Malaysia :)

Zun Kitchenette

Omg this is the best place for traditional Chinese soup! Too many choices! It makes sense because Zun Kitchenette is Eu Yan Sang's subsidiary.

The have a selection of dimsum which I wouldn't recommend though.

Fried rice, fried noodles, tai chow stuff in a posher place. Normal though.

The stewed vegetables with fermented beancurd is soooooo good! I believe they've added a little Chinese rice wine in it, not sure if its Shao Xing, but it actually tastes a lot better!

Homemade charcoal beancurd! Just because I wanted to try the "black" tofu. It's just like any other soft tofu actually. It's actually cute (the bouncy black/greyish texture) and I love it!

Someone recommended the waxed meat rice / lap mei fan... Which is not even near average level. Firstly, rice was overcooked, causing bottom bits to be tad hard. Secondly, another important condiment is the sauce. It's basically a mixture of different sauces depending on the variation. The dark sauce is very important - if its not good, the entire dish is a failure. Also, the meat portion isn't too generous either. But that's not really the main reason, it's the rice and the sauce. I wouldn't recommend, to be honest. By far, the best lap mei fan I've ever had was in Macau. Unforgettable! This is just way too far from it.

Ostrich with black pepper sauce.

I do recommend this restaurant for good rice dishes and soup. Just not the dimsum and lap mei fan. I would definitely go back again to try other dishes! Heaps of steamed dishes - healthy Chinese food!

P/S: Do not order too much if you're having the soup! It's actually pretty filling already! The waitress who served did not even warn us it was too much for us..

Chung Wah Restaurant

People from all over would flock down just for these chicken rice balls..

It's unique, but the CHICKEN is quite rubbish. Omg these are just normal chicken, soft and soggy. If it wasn't for the rice balls I'm not sure if people would actually queue for it...

If you're a first timer, don't hesitate to try though. It's one of Melaka's dishes that you should not miss. Be prepared to queue if you are there on a Saturday...

P/S: Though I would have to say KL has much better chicken quality!

Air Asia: Pak Nasser's Nasi Lemak

I've decided to include flight food photos and I shall begin with Air Asia's very famous Nasi Lemak. Why does AA has to deceive us consumers all the time? I know pictures are for illustration purposes only but really, THAT huge difference?! Looks as if it has been placed in a heat container for too long till everything is overly done. My god the egg yolk is so chewy I cannot comprehend. RM15 for this, don't even use this to represent our country's pride. Please.

Rock & Rose

Their signature classic Rock and Rose Martini with a shot of Prosecco.

Frozen strawberry margarita.

I like it that this place serves fusion food... Fishcakes with thai chilli sauce to start off!

Chicken san choy bau... All these little snack plates goes soooo well with a glass of cocktail!

Glazed ribs... Sooooo tender! Possibly my favourite for the night!

The only vegetarian in the main section. A friend who does not take meat opted for that. Not my kind of thing - no couscous and chickpeas please! Regardless, this really vibrant-looking dish would be great for all you vegetarians out there.

Sticky toffee pudding.

Do make a reservation as it may get busy after 7! And please do me a favour - grab a glass of their signature martini!!

Kata Rocks

Lunch with this view at Kata Rocks.. I wouldn't mind the view all day!

A bottle of wine costs at least 1800 baht.  Food is priced at about 300-400 baht per dish. It is definitely much more expensive than what you can get on the street. (Paying for the ambience!)

The Pad Thai with prawns is actually good! Very flavourful and the spice is just about right!

The banana blossom salad which I didn't fancy. I find the Khmer version one much better.

Northern Thai curry noodles. A friend who eats it regularly whenever she goes back to the North says it is not really great like the ones she can get it back home.

 A very chocolate ending.

The mango sticky rice is soooooooo good! Coconut milk is light, compliments the sticky rice with a hint of mango! This is definitely my favourite Thai dessert!

A very berry pot of ice cream.

So nice to dine with this lovely view.. I believe sunset from this place is super beautiful... Too bad I had to leave right after! Remember to make a reservation then!

Then again, 300-400 baht per dish is not expensive at all! Look at this load of crap served in the airport. An awful burger with fries and a bottle of drink costs 580 BAHT. Ridiculous much!

P/S: There are buffet lunch deals on Sunday which we didn't opt for as we were not that hungry. The ala carte menu is good enough - plenty of choices.

Ohla Tapas & Cocktails

So this place isn't particularly new in town, it has been been around for at least a year now. You know, people always love new stuff. I've always thought their menu is way too limited. Which is true, hence they have improvised with a new one. Here's the link to my old post.

I believe this is in the menu, pardon me for having goldfish memory! I've never liked anchovies anyway. Feedback from a friend who loves it, she thinks it's just right, mild and subtle. She loves it! To someone like me who hates anchovies, no.

The polpo is my favourite for the night! To be frank, of all seafood this is my least favourite one. I've always disliked squid. octopus, of these million-legged stuff because it's just disgusting and chewy. This was done just right. Definitely one of my favourite!

I don't really remember what was this :( but a friend thought those black stuff were scorpions! Well-tricked. Black fungus and scorpions. Hilarious much! Now you know how to cheat your friends.

The cod fish and chick peas. Actually my least favourite of all. Firstly I dislike chickpeas. Secondly, I personally find the fish a little too salty. This is just personal preference - if you dislike it salty please let the chef know beforehand.

This suckling lamb is just so tender and fits right the way I want it to be. ;)

I'm terrible when it comes to cheese. Not really a cheese person... Though I wouldn't mind Brie or Camembert!

All in all, they have renovated the restaurant, added more tables (for 2 or 4) instead of the huge and long table (for 10). It is great for people who wants to have a dinner date (*coughs*Valentines)! I personally prefer the bar area- brings back memories of dining in Barcelona's market! ;)
