Damansara Uptown Hokkien Mee

The pork soup was so salty I almost forgot how salt tasted.

The Hokkien Mee which is apparently really good according to my foodie friend, Andy. So now that I have had the chance to try, it tastes good (ada wok hei!), but I still prefer the one at Imbi as this version is slightly too "wet" :O

I think what amazed me wasn't the noodles, but the technology they have implemented in the coffeeshop to take orders. Like wow, a "tai chow/coffeeshop" that uses touch pad to take orders. The amount of money that they make from stirring up those noodles!

One of the highlights of B-lab is their soup! The pumpkin soup is really rich and creamy!

Be it pumpkin, broccoli or mushroom, they are all very rich and thick! And because they use fresh ingredients you can spot the blended bits of it.

Not everyone uses Campbell mushroom soup! Oh don't forget to order baguette slices to go along with the soup!

Oh their pizza base is really thin and crusty, It reminded me of the whole load of pizzas we had back in Italy!

Their cold cut platter with cheese did not impress. More like the price of it, it's only salami slices, serrano and some bellota (like what, 2 slices?) if I remember correctly. Or much of what we had in other places tasted much better.

Their prices are pretty much reasonable. But I wouldn't order their ham again, totally not worth it. Soup and bread is the bomb!

Air Asia X: Pak Nasser's Nasi Lemak (Business Class)

The difference between business class and normal/premium; an extra bun, a butter (not really necessary) and a kit kat. As you may already notice, the "picture is only for illustration purposes only". It looks no where near what you see in that picture. The egg is able to transform from hard boiled to omelette strips the moment you lift that lid!!! (woah, now everyone can be a magician!!).

When somebody like Kennysia makes a big hoo-ha out of it, they would do something to "save their reputation". Otherwise, for commoners like us, your food will remain just as unappetising as what you can see in the picture above.

San Hou Lei 新好利

The famous Macau egg tarts!

I bought the normal portugese egg tarts and their famous bird nest egg tarts!

Sadly, I had forgotten about the bird nest's version as I had a flight to catch the following day. However, I did try their normal Portuguese tarts - the pastry is so flaky! There is just enough custard egg in the middle. Overall, I was really satisfied. I would have tried their bird nest's version, thinking of saving the best for the last. Sigh. Maybe next time! If you're in Macau, please get some of it!

Tomoe Japanese Restaurant

The Chawanmushi that feels too normal and unfresh. As though it has been left there for a long time....

Half portion chicken salad. It was alright, but nothing special.

Salmon toro... Omg so good! Just by staring those fish fats I don't mind having another 10 pieces of it!! It was definitely the highlight for the night.

One of the rolls, I think it should be the California.

Grilled teriyaki salmon

Overall, I find this little Jap restaurant something different from the chain restaurants we get in KL. Rather pricey to be honest, some of what we have ordered were really good, some were just things we can prep in the kitchen which does not require much skills (like the salad!). Will I go back again? Yes. But I'll make sure I will order something different from the menu, not simple salad which I can have it prepped at home. Salmon belly is a MUST!

Thai Family Restaurant

 Tom yum goong

 Tom yum plaaaaa

 Tod mun plaaaa

Some curry with peanut flavour

 Stir-fry vegetables with prawns

 Thai special fried rice

 Sua rong haiiiii (weeping tiger)

That extremely spicy Thai noodles! Don't even attempt to ask for extra chilli in it, their chef is definitely serving as per Thai spicy standards!

This has to be my favourite Asian food shop in the region! Probably one of the best in the area if you're craving for Thai food! It's flavourful, it is spicy (so spicy it burns!). Totally worth the penny for the meal!

Restoran Yu Yi

Sun Fong BKT is the popular shop in Imbi where they even have outlets in Indonesia! Sun Fong is good (I have been having it for years!), but overrated, plus their service is dropping from bad to worst. Save the frustration and visit other shops in Imbi instead! Yu Yi has been around for ages too, moving from the corner shop to a few shops away from the original.

Not just Bak Kut Teh, you can always opt to have the Chinese Rice Wine Chicken (wong chau kai). and if you do, it is a MUST to get the ginger egg on top of it! If you hate ginger then don't bother about the entire dish.

I wouldn't mind having my dose of BKT in Yu Yi than paying for Sun Fong's incorrigible service. Sometimes it isn't just about the food, it is the overall package.
