Anak Nyonya Restaurant

Telur cincaluk (RM10.60)

Just omelette with cincaluk and salt which was not evenly spread. Some parts of it may be quite bland, some parts of it extremely salty...

Otak Otak (RM10.60)

Steamed otak-otak. Fish flavours were sufficient, soft texture from steaming it. So glad to be having this instead of the extra red-coloured ones in KL. I do not understand why KL's otak-otak are so dark red. Shouldn't it be sort of orangey? Too much artificial flavouring?? Glad that these are still in mild orangey colour from spices instead of colouring..

Ayam Masak Merah (RM10.60)

Very flavourful chicken. Not really spicy which is good for all, especially with kids around.

Kangkung Belacan Medium (RM14.80)

Small plate for that price. Enough for only 2-3 pax?? We were there as 5. Medium is really small, should have ordered the large. 

Ikan Asam Nanas (RM32)

Sauce is very flavourful, sourish with slight spice. Just nice for people who don't really take spicy food. Then again, the sauce is not thick... Maybe it should be like that. It is actually very flavourful but gravy is very watery.

Udang Sambal Petai (RM19.10)

The sambal they used to fry is very nice and fragrant, not really spicy and it's just nice for everyone. Though, the prawns should be peeled. The prawns are already small, and it makes life even more difficult by having to peel before I eat.

Also, we all know that Petai is prone to have worms so Petais should be divided into half to check before cooking. But hello... You don't half the half of it! that's a QUARTER of the petai now!! No matter how yummy the sambal is, it is such a turn off having to PEEL my own MINI prawns and having my QUARTER SIZED petais. This is too much effort and too pricey when it is mostly filled with onions. You don't make your dish look "huge" by doing so, it's a major turn off.

Pulut Tekan (RM1.80 per piece). Oh this is one of my favourite from this shop! These tiny babies run out really fast so grab more if you can!

Overall I'm pretty satisfied with their food, just not quite happy with the way they ration things for a dish. Sometimes, setting the price a little bit more and use better ingredients will not harm. Rationing here and there is like might as well I just cook at home then. If you're already charging not really cheap prices, give it the best to your customers. You have really good sambal, don't waste them on lousy portions/ingredients. If I remember correctly they do sell their sambal separately for an extra fee. Then again, Nyonya cravings satisfied!
