Cafe Kesom

This quaint little cafe is located in Aman Suria, the same row with Patty & Pie / Toyota. The signboard, well there is no proper signboard to begin with. Just lookout for "Blook Warehouse". There are yellow bamboo curtains hanging just below the signboards and there's where you can see "Kesom". It is just so hideous that if you miss it you'll miss it. But just lookout for "Blook Warehouse".

Nasi Kerabu with Ayam Gulai (RM 12.90)

It looks like curry chicken, well it is actually. Just different herbs with different curry names. I prefer the fried chicken actually. The meat is optional, and there are a few choices to pick from.

Nasi Khao Jam (RM13.90)

They were having it over the weekend, so I've decided to give it try. Just got to know that it is only available on Fri, Sat and Sun, while stock lasts. This rice is like a combo of Malay and Thai food. Like Nasi Kerabu, you can have it with or without meat. There are different choices to pick from as well.

The portion is reasonable for one person, may not be sufficient if you have a huge appetite, but fret not. Just add additional meat or rice! I've also noticed some other things like Petai and other curry dishes which I would love to try it the next time. Both dishes are very flavourful from the chillies, sides and salted egg! Combo of spicy, salty, sour and sweet all in one savoury plate.

Their food is really satisfying, with so many flavours and the pricetag for it is reasonable. However, there two points I've noted from observation and hope to see changes in future? -
  1. The dishes are not covered so it is left open, if someone orders it they will scoop a portion. The ones on the upper rack are exposed, so if people starts talking in front of the dishes it can be quite disgusting if anything falls into it. The bottom rack is at least sitting below the upper rack though it does not have a lid. It is really nice for food presentation, but for hygienic purposes... I will choose not to order food that are placed on the upper rack. It is more hygienic to have lids for all dishes.
  2. The dishes are prepared beforehand and there's nothing keeping the dishes warm. The food isn't cold when it arrived, but just not hot. These dishes are just sitting there warmish and of course over the hours it will be cold.
Their information can be different from other sites, best is to check their official page on Facebook. Occasionally, the place could be closed for events, thus it is really best to just check their page for announcements if you're keen to go.
