Andong Jjimdak 安東찜닭

Someone in our group brought us to Andong Jjimdak and insisted that we have to try when in Seoul. I did a quick search and it seems there are two popular ones - Bongchu Jjimdak and Andong Jjimdak.

It's just a very huge plate of chicken and it's very similar to Chinese Kung Pou recipe where they use loads of onions, dry chilli, ginger and oyster sauce. It's not exactly the same but it's similar. It just reminded me of Chinese food.

There are different variations - and I find their menu is simple and suitable for people from all walks of life. You don't like bones? Get the boneless. You have high cholesterol? Avoid seafood. You like it fried? So get the fried. But sorry I don't think they cater to vegetarians!

In all honesty. I doubt I will think of Jjimdak whenever I think of Korean food. I find it very similar to Chinese and it's not the first thing that comes into my mind when I crave for Korean. I shall stick to BBQ or simple food like Kimchi Jigae. :)
