Namdaemun Market 남대문시장

There is a food section in Namdaemun market, which we found by accident. It's a must to visit Namdaemun market for local Korean bites - not the heavy BBQ ones. We noticed that there were lots of Koreans there too, perhaps it is their choice of meal on a daily basis?

It felt like a mini food maze in the area, everything looks about the same. It's very common to see them cooking openly. I guess it's a way to tempt us, or they are lack of space? Anyway, most shops could not cater to big groups - you need to split. I don't remember the name of both shops, but trust me, I just followed the crowd. Just whichever place that looks more appealing to us. I think these are the regular food that people can have it on a daily basis rather than BBQ food all the time.

Shop #1

Side dishes. Can't run away from it, be it BBQ or hot pot to market food.

Perfectly grilled saba fish / godeungeo-gui.

Kimchi Jigae

Steamed Egg / Gaeranjim

Summary of shop #1: Everything's good! The egg was my favourite - so fluffy and light!!

Shop #2

We went back the next day to try another shop.

Kimchi Jigae

Deep-fried Fish

Pan-fried Fish

Suchy a fishy lunch! I prefer the whole fish over the fishes. Shop #2's egg is very fluffy too!

Forget about the high end Korean BBQ food, try their market food too!! Not sure if they are open for dinner, but they are definitely open for lunch.
