Chong Choon Cafe 泉春茶室

That famous coffeeshop in Kuching is within 5 minutes from our hotel. Such a friendly situation you won't see in Klang Valley - where people from all walks of life sits together and have breakfast. They aren't extremists like those in Klang Valley. Don't be shocked when you see Muslims in the Chinese shop - they respect each other even though there are shops that serves pork. They just choose their food from Halal counters. This is 1 Malaysia, unlike those pretentious people in Klang Valley.

Sarawak Laksa (RM6.50)

Flavourful bowl of soup but did not really fancy the noodles. Oddly strange, I prefer the Sarawak Laksa by the Kuching couple at 7th Mile, Kelana Jaya. This isn't something so wow I'd want another bowl...

Kolok Mee (RM4.30)

So nice we almost ordered another bowl. Instead, we got a bowl of wantan because that wantan is really glorious - the meat fillings are so good, the strong porky flavours with very thin wantan skin. It's so good we don't mind a few bowls of that!

Wantan Soup (RM3.30)

Some things I've noted - (a) friendliness of general patrons, no Muslim extremists, (b) great affordable food, (c) selfish patrons who are not willing to share the table - why would 2 pax use a table of 6 to begin with, kept playing with their phones the whole time and not willing to leave. I hope they are foreigners as they do not represent the friendliness of Kuching people in general, (d) I prefer the Kolok mee over their famous Laksa.

Will this be part of my Laksa must eat list in Kuching? Perhaps not.
