Chuan Kee Hakka Restaurant 泉記客家釀豆腐

One of my favourite places for Hakka food - of course these can't be compared to homecooked dishes.

They practically have most of the popular Hakka Dishes - Vinegar pork trotter (zhu kiok suen), yellow rice wine chicken (wong chao kai), vegetables stuffed with fish paste (yong tau foo), braised pork with black fungus (zha yuk), braised pork with yam (wu tao kao yuk).

I visit this place very often as a kid - as I'm a native Hakka, so our family's choice of everyday food is typically Hakka food. As much as I enjoy every other cuisine, Hakka food is comfort food.

The dishes may be a bit oily and salty at times - which is naturally how Hakka food is like back during the days when healthy eats is not mainstream.

It can get really busy during peak hours, so visit earlier if you can? Do note that their toilet is not the best to use.

If I had to pick a personal favourite from this shop, it would be a pork dish - the zha yuk, but it is much oilier than what we prepare at home. Well, the unhealthiest food is always the most delicious one!!

P/S: Note that parking can be very difficult, unless you're willing to pay to park at their private spot. The fee is about RM3 the last time we visited. Or, hail a Uber/Grab!
