The shop is literally opposite Yasaka Shrine - this is the entrance of the tiny shop and it's quite easy to find.

It's perfect that they have different sets to cater different people, especially for smaller groups. We opted for Set B (¥2990) - Saba Sushi, Box Sushi and Inari Sushi.

If you do a Google search on them, they are one of the most popular in Kyoto for their Box Sushi and Saba Sushi. They claim to be around for 100 years now, more reasons that you have to try at least once.

I think this is the actual box if you order it separately.

Ours came all in one plate because we ordered the set, which is perfectly fine too.

I would say that the Box Sushi is a must try, I don't think I know how to appreciate the Saba Sushi - it's just normal to me with additional seaweed. But it seems to be their most popular item. I actually find the taste of the sushi to be rather flat.

I find their Inari Sushi is more addictive - it has a hint of Yuzu citrus and there are little hemp seeds inside. I swear those seeds are annoying but nevertheless, I like it the most among all.

For the Box Sushi, there are a lot of little herbs hidden between the sashimi and rice. I really don't have a clue what herbs are those, but some tasted a little weird. These herbs are not for everyone! I recall the dark brown pieces you see in the picture are cake like texture and it's sweet - I actually never got to find out what exactly is that. It's interesting to have cake pieces surrounded by slices of seafood.

Miso Soup (¥300)

Kyoto Clear Soup (¥300)

Do head down to this little shop for quick bites - and beware of the long queue if you're planning to visit during peak hours! I was lucky to get a table with no queue as I visited only after 1pm. I did not make a reservation, just in case you're wondering.

Likes: Simple, clear cut, English menu provided. Delicious sushi - one of the most memorable Inari Sushi.
Dislikes: Not sure, nothing at all so far.
