Yamaguchi Fish Market

Japanese food posts overload. I can't help it, since Japanese food is the only food that I possibly will never get tired of.

Hunting Japanese food in Klang Valley, and here I am, finally visiting Yamaguchi after so long. They are popular for being one of the more affordable and fresh Japanese place. But to me, the aquariums are just for show.

Daily Special - Salmon (RM12)

We decided to pop by to try - we got ourselves the Groupon RM100 voucher for only RM69 if I am not wrong? But the nightmare happened only when we arrived. Please note that this place cheats their customers. You can not allowed to order half of the menu - this was not stated prior to purchasing it. What's the point when you can't even order half of it???

Soft Shell Crab Make (RM18)

Most of the regular items can be ordered, food like crabs, oysters, lobsters, prawns, and some other expensive items are not applicable. Beware if you're buying from Fave / Groupon. They do not and will not state this in their T&C's.

Seafood Nabe (RM38)

Fresh but pathetic looking plate. The cockles were not cleaned properly.

The steamboat pot was alright, for that price there's nothing to comment. At least the prawns were fresh.

Toro-Uni Chirashi Don (RM85)

This was a horrible nightmare. Please do not ever order their Toro-Uni Chirashi - it looks nothing like what you see in the menu and there's so little uni where they crush probably two pieces and mix it with scallops! What bullocks is this?!

Please learn from Sushiya, this is what they serve. REAL UNI. And fish portion, not rationed at all. FYI, this is around RM80 too. But they are not cheaters like Yamaguchi. Sushiya also known as the ever popular Ichiro Sushi.

Ichiro Sushi Bar's version:

Just found out that they increased the price, it was at RM85 - and it's RM88! RM3 increase for a bowl that's not even worth RM50.

Uni Tofu (RM22)

What, where did you crush my uni? Or is it powdered? I see no uni, taste no uni. This is ripping RM22 off from your pocket.

Shishamo (RM16)

Worth returning? I'd say no. At least, do not ever purchase their Groupon / Fave vouchers. Not worth the hassle at all.

P/S: Do not even bother speaking to the chef. The chef thinks his recipe is ever-so-grand. Please. People who never accepts criticism are people who will never improve. At least for chefs, it's important. Really not the best place to be if you're craving for Japanese, even though I like their concept but the people managing it needs help.

Likes: Varieties.
Dislikes: Cheating vouchers on Groupon / Fave, rationed portions, unfriendly and slow service, arrogant sushi chef, and lots of mosquitoes.
