Ruyi & Lyn

Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Skin (RM18)

We never learned our lesson despite the default overpriced tidbits incident. This time we were a little smarter - we rejected their tidbits they put on every table and auto-charge by default.

We visited because of the salted egg yolk chicken skin promo they advertised on Facebook. When we ordered, their staff replied without even checking/thinking - "No we don't have it".

We had to speak to 3 different staffs, showed the Facebook post, back and forth for almost 15 minutes before they could confirm the existence of this dish. I wasn't impressed with their internal communication.

Mongolian Ostrich (RM78)

Very tender ostrich... Beef like tenderness with a hint of pepper.

French beans, shrimps, minced meat (RM28)

The usual Chinese style French beans... Nothing special. They could perhaps offer more french beans... The portion is absolutely pathetic!

Crab Curry Rice (RM80++)

Still the only reason to visit Ruyi & Lyn!

Singapore Fried Noodles (RM33++)

They really need to buck up on their service.. Problems we had for the night:

  1. They don't even know what they advertised on Facebook. No internal communication
  2. Dishes took FOREVER to arrive - 45 minutes wait from 6pm, even though we were the only (or probably there was another table). How can you handle crowd if you can't handle two tables????
  3. Almost impossible to signal to request for something. Everything takes too long!
  4. Booked through OffPeak for 10% off, told them when we arrived and when we requested for the bill they conveniently forgetten about it and charged us anyway.
I was not happy about it and rated on Facebook, in which their manager quickly responded to it by contacting me and reassuring that this will not happen again. She said that they are short of staffs and will improve on communication bit as it is no excuse to advertise on FB and staffs are unaware of it. Good effort, Manager!

Likes: Probably one of the better Halal choices that is close to Chinese food. Manager deals with problem very promptly. Crab curry rice is the best!
Dislikes: No internal communication - training needed, slow, some portions can be really ridiculous for the price, unattentive, do not honour OffPeak deals
