Stir Fry Beans with Minced Meat (£6.80++)
Tasted very typical Cantonese style. No Sichuan Pepper, thankfully! A hint of dried chilli taste was alright.
Stir Fry Beef with Spring Onions (£7++)
Very nicely whipped up - the beef was tender and the sauce was just about right! HK chef if I remember correctly... So you'll get more Cantonese flavours.
Salted Egg Yolk Squid (£7++)
Malaysians does this way better - this was horribly done. Very little salted egg yolk taste and batter was just soft and soggy, not properly deep-fried.
Pork with Preserved Vegetable (£7++)
Hakkas will do a better job than Cantonese - this version has too much starch in it so the texture look abit more like "glue" rather than thick gravy. I find the meat's tenderness was alright but the starchy gravy made the dish rating went down.
Stir Fry Beijing Cabbage (£7++)
Not bad - not really Beijing style, but Cantonese style with mild hint of chilli. It is not spicy at all.
Likes: Simple food is alright - order ordinary dishes and they are not too bad.
Dislikes: Staff trying to sell expensive dishes like lobster, crab - but the fact is we Chinese don't really eat glamorous all the time - we would like to have dishes which are closer to daily eats / homecooked flavours. I really did not like the salted egg yolk squid - if I have to be specific.
