Kingdom Palace Restaurant

This was taken a while back, not during Chinese New Year. It's their version of "Yee Sang" where it's completely not traditional at all. It's just a huge plate of salad served with Kewpie's roasted sesami, topped with soft shell crab.

Soft shell crab and deep fried fish skin. It's just a huge plate of salad to be honest, but everything goes well with roasted sesame. Thank goodness.

Likes: Overall, the food are all generally good. They were all up to expectations, only perhaps the salad yee sang that was a little too innovative - it's nothing more than just a salad. It's great to cater the Petaling Jaya crowd, where you don't have to go all the way to KL for proper Chinese 10 courses kind of dining.
Dislikes: Definitely a little too far for those who lives in KL and there are plenty of other choices in KL too so no point driving all the way here.

Ubereats Bangkok

Ubereats makes our life so much easier. So what if my hotel doesn't want to include breakfast for free - Dancing Duck Noodle it is!

Unfortunately they do not deliver up to your hotel room so you will have to go down to the lobby to wait for your food.

Aliyaa

A friend introduced this place for Sri Lankan delights. She thinks it is one of the best in Klang Valley. To be fair, are there any other Sri Lankan places in KL?? Probably really limited...

I came for the hoppers. We were told to try the hoppers and curries. I thought the plain one was a bit boring and tad bit cold.

The menu was a little difficult for us - the names of each curries are very foreign to us. I can't even remember the names of it now. On a brighter note - Aliyaa is part of Entertainer 2017 so we just opted for the ones which are eligible for it.

Some fish curry which I thought was my least favourite.

We had both eggplants and this was the only item we had to order another plate because it was just so good! It's a bit oily though.

The portions are fairly small, and the prices are a little high too. The choices available for Entertainer redemption is also quite limited to only chicken, mutton and fish.

The sweet appam is a must to end the meal - the perfect dessert!!

*Without prawn/crabs, it came up to approximately RM60~RM70 per pax. Considering that Entertainer vouchers are being used as well, it's really pricey. With seafood selections you probably need to pay around RM150 per pax.... That's not inclusive of alcoholic drinks if you're planning to get a glass or two.

Likes: Good food but could be better. Food is served luke warm.
Dislikes: Service is not that great - we made a reservation a week ahead but they placed us at a table next to the toilet, upstairs for a birthday celebration. I thought they could be nicer to place us at a table downstairs since we requested it at least a week ahead. Also, the prices a quite challenging too considering that the portion is very, very small.

Sepiring

Yam Cake

I came to this place all thanks to the smell of the laksa. We were doing some shopping at Mid Valley but boy, we dropped all of our shopping bags for it. The yam cake was a wonderful surprise - I never thought a chain cafe could be so generous with their yam fillings.

Penang Laksa

The Penang laksa does taste just as good as it smells! The only thing is they could have at least added more fish into it. For a bowl that costs RM18, could do a bit more justice with their fish portion.

P/S: If you have subscribed to Entertainer 2018, Sepiring is on it!

Likes: Good local fare in a shopping mall which is not too expensive. Try the bubur cha cha too - it's one of the better ones I've had around in Klang Valley!
Dislikes: Nothing.

The Rum Bar KL

One for one mojito. The amount of rum in this glass is somewhat non-existent. It's a glass of sugar water and ice... Perhaps this is their happy hour quality? I don't know but it was just pure diluted.

Rum Oyster Shot (RM24)

The worst rum oyster shot I have ever had. The oyster was so unfresh we just couldn't be bothered to finish.

Iberica Carparccio (RM38)

I could just get some cold cuts from the grocers and top it with cheese. Costs half of this price tag. Nothing special at all to be honest.

Scallop Ceviche (RM35)

One scallop sliced into 6 small cubes. This is the scallop ceviche for you.

Escargot with Bone Marrow Butter (RM32)

Possibly the only edible item on the table. It was lack of salt but bearable.

Patata Bravas (RM15)

Just potato. I'd prefer fries over this anytime.

Spicy Chicken Wings and Chimichurri Sauce (RM25)

This was alright too - normal fried chicken with a nice dip.

Verdict? The food was horrible in general. For such exorbitant prices they could at least provide quality food but nah... We left hungry. Expect to fork out a minimum of RM150 per person to be able to feel full walking out of this place, without alcohol. Seriously a total rip off. We went across to Opium for food instead, as we were still hungry after all the tiny portions. Why market themselves like casual bar but serving fine dining portions and prices but quality is no different from supermarket DIY food???

Likes: Great ambience, friendly staffs, great rum choices
Dislikes: Below average food in general, exorbitant prices, drinks are diluted (never ever order their cocktails, or at least the happy hour cocktails)

Ah Koong Noodle House

Simple noodle house in Pudu. The only reason I visit is the variety - you can choose your favourite noodle and anything to go with your soup.

So this is what happens when one gets too excited about ordering. Food for two turns out to be THIS much.....

I once ordered them from an online platform (can't remember Ubereats if I remember correctly?) and they got our entire order wrong. So it's best to dine here.... Also, this place is too commercialised and attracts tourist more than local these days... Not really the best place for local eats. Nevertheless, decent eatery for a quick lunch.

Likes: Dry noodle. Must have it with the belacan!
Dislikes: Soup is actually very salty and so much MSG! Don't bother ordering delivery from this place...

Paste

This has got to be my favourite Thai fine dining by far - newly awarded one star Michelin in Bangkok ust shortly after our visit.

I wouldn't order the cocktail again though. Guess they need to work a little more on that.

Highlights from our Sunday lunch set which includes two entrees and two mains.

Watermelon, ground salmon, shallots, caviar.

Roast duck, curry paste, rice cracker.

Panang beef curry

Crispy pork leg with chicken broth and  tomatoes

Our mains came with rice and we were definitely full after that. If you're a big eater, consider the menu with more items... I thought this menu was just fine for two. Alternatively, you may order extras from their ala carte menu too.

Likes: Simple presentation, good food and attentive service
Dislikes: None
