Came to know about this place for the longest time through a friend. We visited on a different occasion at Publika's branch for desserts at least a year ago... Their desserts were somewhat good and I had a good impression of them.
This time around we decided to try their savoury dishes, at Batai's branch. They offer a great variety of choices, but they do not serve pork. All their dishes were disappointing - the appetiser platter was made out of frozen food, in fact most of it were prepared, freezed and served only when a customer orders. Even if this is not a true statement, their food did taste like that. Either they were too dry or bland. With the exception of their panang curry which was one of the better dishes.
The amok was very very flat and dry - seafood did not taste fresh either.
Stir fry beef with basil which was too "wet" and salty.
Tom kha gai / coconut chicken curry, tasted very flat, not spicy and too much coconut milk.
The tom yam was alright, with the exception that their frozen seafood is a major failure.
This is nothing like Thai omelette. It's not crispy, just like any omelette you can prepare at home... Almost effortless.
PS: None of their dishes above is spicy, it's basically suitable for non-Asians, not wee bit of spiciness at all. If this is classified as authentic, where is the chilli?
Likes: Comfortable place
Dislikes: Unauthentic Thai food, mostly frozen packed, re-microwave when somebody orders, unfresh seafood, food is not spicy, no "wok hei", not worth the money at all
